Frequently Asked
Questions
Concerning: 360
Degree Feedback Tools, 360 Degree Performance
Reviews, 360 Degree Employee Evaluations...
Q:
How
do I know that I need to use a 360
Degree Feedback rather than some
other tool that HR-Meter Tool
offers? A: One
should use a 360 Degree Feedback Tool if one
seeks a panoramic view of employee interaction
and productivity in the work place. What a 360
degree feedback does, which is quite different
from other tools, is it offers a clear picture
of the performance of particular employees,
managers, and colleagues from multiple
perspectives. That is, an individual is
assessed, first by self-evaluation and then by
clients, colleagues, superiors and subordinates.
This makes it possible for your company to
perform 360 Degree Performance reviews, employee
evaluations, etc. Q: Why
should I use an HR-Meter 360 Tool
rather than one provided by some
other company? A:
HR-Meter offers 100% support for all of its
tools. With the 360 degree feedback and
evaluation tools,
HR-Meter will develop the tool with you over the
phone or in person. Among other things, HR-Meter
offers: access to the usage of the tool at any
time, preconfigured logins, secure and encrypted
data, convenient report generation etc. The fact
of the matter is that most other companies offer
something more like an "off the shelf",
standard, 360 which has been preconfigured with
a number of stock questions. These are
worthless. However, there are a number of
companies out there that offer "do it yourself"
360's. The benefit of these "do it yourself"
360's is naturally going to be found in the
price. A company simply offloads some software
to the buyer and calls it a day. However, "doing
it yourself" often times turns into a nightmare
of confusion concerning not only formatting
issues within the software (most times with
little if any technical support coming from the
supplier) but also concerning content.
HR-Meter has overseen the implementation of
numerous 360 degree feedbacks as well as
conducted a 360 degree feedback study
(which we would be more
than happy to provide you with)
that proves that proper content and
implementation are absolutely vital to the
success of your 360 degree feedback project. You
simply will not be able to guarantee that kind
of quality with a "do it yourself" project and
you certainly won't be able to come close with
an "off the shelf" product that costs a few
hundred bucks.
Q: What does a 360
Degree Feedback Tool do and how does it work?
A: The 360 Degree Feedback Tools are
essentially evaluation tools. The way they work
is simple. A particular employee (be it a
manager, an office clerk, a secretary, a CEO) is
assessed by all of his or her co-workers
(clients, colleagues, superiors and
subordinates). There is also a self-evaluation.
Next, these evaluations are assessed by HR-Meter
and a report is generated yielding a 360 degree
portrait of that employee. Gap analysis is
generated between each assessment. This gives
one a perspective on how closely one's
self-evaluation is in keeping with the
evaluations given by others. The gap analysis
also shows how closely the opinions of one's
subordinates correlate with the opinions of
one's superiors, rendering a total, 360 degree,
picture. Q:
Should I use a full customization or a best
practice 360? A: This is a good
question and should be carefully considered. The
difference between the Best Practice 360 and a
Full Customization 360 is pretty straight
forward. One should use the Best Practice 360 if
one seeks general knowledge about specific
workplace dynamics. (Best Practice is NOT "off
the shelf") The Best Practice 360 does
this beautifully. However, along with all
standard models, the Best Practice 360 has its
natural limitations. When one finds that the
information they wish to gather from their
assessments is more specific and technical than
a standard Best Practice 360 can offer, one
should choose to use the Full Customization
model of the 360. With Full Customization, the
tool can be crafted specifically for your
workplace, ultimately yielding more accurate and
business specific data.

A: That's easy.

Q: How do I distribute
my 360 Degree Feedback or Evaluation Tool? A:
All 360's are done online using a secure
website. The way the tool is distributed is,
therefore, however you choose to distribute the
user names and passwords. Some companies find it
beneficial to have a meeting in which they
explain the purpose of the assessment and then
distribute the user names and passwords. Others
choose to simply send out e-mails including a
brief explanation, instructions, and the user
names and passwords. It is entirely up to you.
If you would like, HR-Meter can define
and execute the distribution and communication
process: invitations and reminders (including
explanations). Q:
What does a final report, generated by HR-Meter,
look like and how do I get it? A: A full report includes visual representation
of all data in the form of graphs, meters and
gauges as well as numerical representation of
the entire project. In addition, each report
includes a detailed explanation and description
of what is indicated by the graphs, meters and
gauges.
We will be happy to provide you with a
full sample report. When HR-Meter has
completed your report, you can receive it in two
ways: via-email in PDF format or via-paper mail.
All reports can be discussed over the phone with
an HR-Meter consultant or in a Coaching Session.
